Agriculture Insurance: Kisan Mela on Crop Insurance Scheme by KVK

A kisan mela was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna at Barnala.

The mela was inaugurated by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, who is Member of Parliament. He said the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna that was implemented across the country would be beneficial to the farmers. The MP said, there was a dire need to use new technologies of irrigation for farming, the water-level was depleting.

Verma said that, GADVASU is providing useful inputs to the farmers in the form of mineral mixtures, bypass fat, literature and diagnostic facilities and undertaking various training programmes.

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna would start from the khairf season 2016, said Deputy Director Dr PS Tanwar. He added, under this Yojna, each field of the farmer would be considered as a unit.

Dr MP Gupta, Dr Rajesh Kasrija, Dr Khushvir Singh and Dr KS Matharu shared information on animal husbandry and fishery issues in Kisan Goshti. On this occasion, an exhibition was also organized.
